Facebook ads for a standing desk brand
A standing desk company had lived on organic search for three years and never built a reliable paid channel. Its first proper month of Meta ads was 179% growth and nearly its best month ever.
Jack, Standing desks. Recorded May 2026.
Jack sells an electric standing desk that lowers all the way to the floor, which nothing else on the market does. The business started in 2021 and had grown mostly on the strength of that difference.
Their traffic problem was an unusual one. They owned the keywords in their niche, so organic search had carried the business since inception — an early investment in SEO that kept paying out for three years. Paid ads existed but were, in his words, janky. Nothing repeatable.
That is a good position to be in and a fragile one. Organic rankings are somebody else’s algorithm, and a business with only one channel has no lever to pull when it moves.
The first strong three-week stretch produced 179 percent growth month over month and around thirty additional orders — the second highest revenue month in company history, behind only one December.
The part Jack raises for anyone considering it is creative, and his experience contradicts the usual assumption. They could not supply polished assets. The ads that performed were low fidelity, some of it shot on his own phone. What mattered was having material to work with, not having it produced expensively.
If you have a genuinely differentiated product and one channel carrying the whole business, paid social is the obvious second leg. Volume of content matters more than production value, which makes starting cheaper than most people expect.
In Jack’s words
“Our organic traffic has always been kind of the lifeblood of the business. We ran a few ads, but nothing reliable — they were kind of janky, not really performing well.”
“We just experienced the highest month in revenue terms that the company has ever had. Business nearly doubled over the span of a month — I think we had like 179% growth month over month.”
“You were able to create ads for us that performed fantastically despite the fact that we were not able to equip you with really great content. It can be lowfi, it can be shot by me on my iPhone, and it can still perform really well.”
